Mibet Offshore PV System Successfully Deployed Nearshore

Recently, mibetsolar successfully deployed two offshore floating solar systems in the marine testing zones of Dali Puyu and Dongshan Island. This marks the official commencement of the validation phase for the Nearshore Floating Photovoltaic Application Demonstration Project, in collaboration with the "China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation's 725 Research Institute. Offshore solar power generation places higher demands on the floating system's structure, involving complex technical challenges related to marine construction, installation, and maintenance. We have optimized and enhanced various aspects, including the anchoring system, float structure, flexible connectors, corrosion resistance, and wave protection. In the future,  Mibet will continue to explore in-depth and build a near-shore floating photovoltaic system with complete intellectual property rights. We will work hand in hand with industry partners to jointly promote the progress and development of floating systems.

Mibet Shanghai 3MW Metal Rooftop Solar Project Completed

Mibet's 3MW rooftop solar mounting system project at the Shanghai Yaoxue Ice World in China was officially completed recently. The venue is scheduled to open to the public in 2024 and will become the world's largest indoor real snow skiing resort. Mibet's professional engineering team overcame the challenges of high-rise, uneven roofs, and tight deadlines to provide an efficient rooftop solar solution. Shanghai Yaoxue Ice World Effect/Source: official promotional image Yaoxue Ice World is located in Shanghai, which has a subtropical monsoon climate with hot summers and warm winters. The average annual sunshine hours are 1,885, providing ideal conditions for the construction of a solar power plant. Mibet's solar solution will allow this approximately 29,500 square meter project to self-supply electricity, with an estimated annual generation of 4 million KW/h. We adopted an innovative structure that incorporates the image of a skier into the design, using this unique way to illuminate the Ice world. The project design features an aluminum alloy double-layer rail structure, which has the characteristics of flexible adjustment and efficient installation, meeting the installation requirements of irregular roofs. The aluminum alloy frame is treated with an anodizing process to provide corrosion and rust resistance. We used the 3D3S professional tool to verify the structural strength and strictly followed international standards in the design, ensuring the durability and safety of the rooftop solar system.     NYC's Javits Convention Center to Feature Rooftop Solar Panels

    The New York Power Authority is administering the solar photovoltaic Request for Proposals on behalf of the Javits Center that seeks to select a developer to design, construct and own the solar PV system through a Power Purchase Agreement. Solar panels are coming to the roof and sidewalk of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan, after New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced a call for developers to submit proposals for the installation of more than 4,000 panels that can generate up to 1.4 megawatts of renewable energy. That power generation will offset the building's electric load and work toward the goal of 50 percent of the state's electricity coming from renewable sources by 2030. "New York is leading the nation with bold actions to advance renewable energy and spur economic growth that is bolstering communities across the state," Cuomo said. "Bringing solar power to one of the Empire State's most powerful economic engines will push us closer to our ambitious energy goals and further promote the importance of pursuing sustainable practices, helping us to build a cleaner, greener New York." The New York Power Authority is administering the solar photovoltaic Request for Proposals on behalf of the Javits Center that seeks to select a developer to design, construct, and own the solar PV system through a Power Purchase Agreement. Responses to the solicitation are due by Sept. 7, 2018. The project is estimated to offset more than 2.7 million pounds of carbon dioxide each year, which is equivalent to removing 262 cars from the road. As part of the proposed project, more than 4,000 panels would be hosted on the center's green roof and an additional street-level solar array would be constructed on 11th Avenue. The 6.75-acre green roof has become a sanctuary for area wildlife, and it provides building insulation and retains storm water to prevent the risk of flooding. The Javits Center and NYPA conducted preliminary site assessments to identify the most feasible and appropriate locations to install solar PV systems. "The New York Power Authority and the Javits Center both understand the importance of a green environment and have made sustainable actions a long-standing priority," Gil C. Quiniones, NYPA's president and CEO, said. "This project, planned for a world-renowned convention facility, will bring increased visibility to the benefits of renewable energy technologies while helping realize significant cost savings at one of our most iconic gathering places in New York City." "With the installation of our green roof and a robust energy conservation program, the Javits Center has become a model of sustainability for buildings nationwide, and this solar array project will build on that sustainable success," said Alan Steel, president and CEO of the convention center. "For more than 30 years, the Javits Center has supported New York's economy by hosting large-scale events that attract millions of visitors to the Empire State, and we are proud to have expanded that mission to support New York's environment as well. We are very excited to be working with NYPA on this solar installation, which will help to decrease greenhouse gas emissions and further improve the quality of life throughout our community."

    IEA launches World Energy Outlook in China

    IEA Chief Modeller Laura Cozzi launched the latest World Energy Outlook in Beijing on 23 January. The China launch brought together over 120 officials and experts drawn from government, academia and the power industry to discuss the latest global energy trends, and the outlook for the electricity. During his opening remarks, Li Ye, Executive Director General of China’s National Energy Agency noted the strong IEA-China relationship that has delivered key results across a range of important areas of reform for China including: power market reform, distributed energy, renewables and gas market design. At the IEA Ministerial meeting in 2015, China became one of the first countries to activate Association status with the Agency. Since then the IEA and China have been working closely together to achieve energy reform in China. In 2017, the IEA and China agreed a Three Year Work programme to boost energy policy analysis, promote clean energy systems, build capacity on energy regulation, and improve exchange of data on renewable energy and other resources.  The launch in Beijing was organised by the China Electricity Power Planning and Engineering Institute, which hosts IEA’s China Liaison Office. The IEA’s work with China includes collaboration to draw upon best international practice in carbon emissions trading, and power market reforms that enables renewable energy to make a greater contribution to electricity supply. Work is ongoing with Chinese counterparts as the new Five Year Plan, and longer-term plans, are put in place to accelerate China’s clean energy transition.  The IEA will launch its latest work on China’s Power System Reform in Beijing on 25 February.     Floating Solar PV System: the future of renewable energyu

    Nowadays, people have more and more strong conscious of environment protection and also realize the adverse impact of pollutants emitted by fossil fuels. The solar pv power generation has been rapidly popularized, but with the land area limited, it’d difficult to build large-scale ground solar pv power generation. It can make full use of salt water, polluted water, reservoir and so on but without any negative impact on the environment. This system not only can save valuable land resource, but also keep the water body covered by solar panels cool, which increase the power efficient by 8% to 10%. The generated power can be off-grid or on-grid, so that it can provide power for local people or enterprises. Even small water area can be utilized as ideal generating place. In most cases, the owners of this system will sell excess power to nearby utilities and energy suppliers to recoup some proceeds. In addition, these solar panels can protect water from direct sunlight exposure, which can inhabit the growth of algae and other harmful microbes. And the evaporation resistance is also a benefit in arid regions. With the floating solar pv system, the water will evaporates more slowly when covered by solar panels than when exposed in sunlight, which making this system more attractive in saving water. Besides, it can also generating revenue from electricity sales. But there are also some difficulties with this device. Considering all the panels will exposed on the water, so all the components (especially the panels fastened wire) need to be waterproof to prevent corrosion and damage, which makes it has higher installation cost and maintenance cost than ground system. What’s more, the storms, hurricanes and water level changes must be considered, so the installers create floating design to handle these conditions. Most of the earth is water, so there are plenty of places to install floating solar pv system. And with the global warming, many places is uninhabitable any more. Although the floating solar pv system has higher installation cost, its advantages on increasing efficient, keeping ecological balance and convenience overweigh its disadvantages.
